See Into the Future!

December Snowfall has not even finished the testing stage yet (and it won’t for 9 whole days) but I’m already in design mode for my next pattern. I’ve chosen the yarn, but have not yet come up with the design. I know sort of how I want it to look, but haven’t quite planned it out yet. Can you guess what type of pattern I’m designing?

January

Yes. There is more than one colour of yarn there.

Yes. The yarn itself is sitting on top of Stitchionary 3.

Yes. I just might be crazy.

Yes…. you guessed it. Colourwork!

Last time I did colorwork was for Under the Rose. It was a small amount of colourwork, and it was all out of the way in the cuff. For the January pattern though… I’m going all out. Pulling out all the stops. Doing an allover colour pattern for the whole design! It will not be for the faint of heart. But… since it’s the January pattern, I thought why not try something different?

It’s not often that I do colourwork. It’s not my favourite. I curse like a sailor while I’m knitting it and it takes me a long time. Normally I would not design something with this much colourwork involved, and especially with not four different colours. However, I wanted to take on something that would be a challenge for me, and I really do like the way colourwork looks.

In the photo above are 4 balls of Knit Picks Palette. They range from dark to light with Black, Ash, Fog, and Mist being the lightest. It’s not quite white, but almost.

Yes… this will be interesting indeed.
