Another year has passed and a new decade is about to begin and it seems like just yesterday the new millenium was upon us. It has been an interesting year for me and for Ganiggle Knits. Although I wasn’t as active on the blog as I would have liked to be in 2009, I think I almost made up for it at the end. Thank you to all of my readers who have supported me and commented on my postings. A big thank you to everyone who has participated in the testing process for my patterns, and to everyone who has purchased the finished patterns.
I have done my best, and will continue to do my best at bringing you new designs that are fun to knit and beautiful to wear. I will also continue to create stitch markers, and already have some exciting ones to show you for the new year. I just need to take some pictures, which will hopefully happen tomorrow. I have a set of coffee bean beads made up that I think look really good!
As a new year comes, so too does the time when we all make a resolution of something we would like to change in our lives. Some people will make a resolution to eat healthy, stop smoking, be better at organizing their time, or it could be a career goal. My resolution this year will be to make my blog more personable and exciting. I am not sure yet whether that means to create a podcast, or a videocast, but something along those lines will be happening.
Today is December 31st, and as promised I have drawn the winner of the Relax & Knit 2009 Winter contest. The winner is Sarah A from Ontario Canada, who got two entries in the contest when she purchased Eden and October Moss from the shop. She will be receiving a lovely gift set of body butter and soap just as soon as she replies to my email with her mailing address. Thank you to everyone who entered the contest!!! It was a lot of fun to host the contest and I look forward to having another one in the new year.
I will have a mini-contest for this blog post. To enter all you need to do is post a comment on this post with what your new years resolution is going to be for the year. At the end of January I will make a random draw and the winner will receive a set of stitch markers of their choice from my shop and a free pattern! Comment away!

I tend not to make new year’s resolutions, as they seem to get broken. I started on an excersize goal right after Christmas, I am going to try and use my tread mill about an hour a day. I also want to start planning my meals a little better.
Finish my knit works in progress and knit socks and shawls:)Hugs Darcy

My new years resolutions is to work on getting in better shape. I got a Wii fit plus and I have started to eat healthier most days. Great job Wendy. I do enjoy ready your blog . Keep up the good work .
I usually don’t make resolutions, but this year I’ve decided to change my ways. I’ve decided not to second guess myself, and to believe in myself with my whole heart!
I’m going to try to stick to not buying any new yarn this year for as long as I can stand it. I’ve got a yarn stash that has gotten to the point of crazy and I’m determined to knit from what I already have.
Happy New Year! One of my “goals” is to finish some of the 12 UFOs (especially the older ones)
This year I’m going to finish all my small WIPs before I cast on anything new for 2010 (only 2 projects to go!) and I’m also going to work on knitting down the stash instead of buying new yarn.
Happy New Year! No resolutions for me, so no contest entry…
But thank you for blogging — I enjoyed reading your posts in 2009 and hope 2010 brings more.
I tend to think of goals & resolutions as interchangeable when it comes to New Year’s. I just did a blog post here that includes my resolutions, including fiber-y ones.
Here they are directly:
Knitting
* publish 1-2 small patterns (socks, mittens, hats) per month
* start holiday knitting earlier (though I was pleased with this year’s holiday knitting) so I have time for a bit of selfish knitting as well in between
* finish St Brigid
* design & knit my Madrona Mollusca vest
* finsh all other WIPs (or frog them) (WIPs include Galileo Mitts, Polar Chullo, Lau socks, Bramble Mitts, Endpaper mitts, Conwy socks, Hedgerow socks, Herbstlied, Canyonville, Seaweed Wrap, Cleopatra Wrap) I can already say that these are pretty much in order of how I’ll address them.
* knit from stash — if I absolutely must have, say, a certain shade of shetland yarn, either trade for it or sell something out of the stash to cover the cost
Spinning & Dyeing
* process all raw fleeces
* spin 10-15 minutes day minimum
* play with dyeing & blending with the drumcarder
I just started on one of my resolutions! To start my blog: http://chrisabbott.wordpress.com/ OK, its just not going to be pretty or exciting (for a good while), but I’ve started and I intend to have fun with it.
Other resolutions:
- Look after my body (to include watching the quality & quantity of food consumed + regular exercise)
- Look after my home (well, better than last year – a little yardwork would be in line with above)
- Stick to a budget for longer than one month (yes, this does mean I’m rationing my yarn splurges)
- Improve timeliness (includes going to bed same time as my man, mailing stuff within a week of needing to, finishing work assignments before the due date, and paying bills on time)
For 2010, I’d like to finish my UFO’s, knit more from my stash, and continue the healthy eating for my new family! Best wishes for you on your goals!
I am adding weekly blogging back to my goals for this year–thanks for the push, Wendy (my blog is http://readingknitter.blogspot.com/). I am also aiming to knit every single day in 2010 (crochet and needlepoint also count), and to finish up as many UFOs as possible. It’s also a great year for self care and self growth!
I don’t usually make resolutions, but this year I decided to knit from stash with very very few exceptions.
And I will continue my healthy eating plan.
I will learn more crochet in 2010, along with knit cables.
My DH and I resolve to continue the morning walks we started in Sept 09.
This will be the year of ME! I don’t make enough room for me in my life. So that is my pledge. Happy 2010 to you!
I will learn how to do
the Norwegian purl.
Thank you.
